Interactive Design

Interactive media is the concept behind using various methods of new technology to create interactive designs for a range of different reasons.

Interactive media can be a number of different things; ranging from interactive tv, to video games, to social media, to augmented reality. The role of interactivity is vital between the user and the machine, whether or not it's more or less from either participant.

Any form of interface is considered interactive media, however it's not just limited to digital or electronic media. Board games, pop up books and flip books are all examples of printed interactive media.

The type of interactive media that I'm personally most interested is ranges from smartphone apps, interactive website design and interactive installations. Through my experiences on my National Diploma Digital Graphics and Interactive Media, I learnt a number of different ways in which to use interactive media to a graphic designer's advantage.

These methods include hacking various electronics, using devices such as smartphones or Arduino boards, and other more 'traditional' methods such as website design, flash games and applications.

I'm really looking forward to getting involved with this project and being able to not only learn some more skills based around interactive design but also to brush off my old knowledge and use it to my advantage to create a great piece of work for this module.
